Dear ERS Parents and Families,

Welcome back everyone!  It is great to see how everyone is settling in here at Elizabeth Rummel School for the 2025-2026 school year.  It is nice to see our familiar faces and how much they have grown over the summer.  We now have our kindergarten students attending full days and we also want to welcome all of our new students and families to our school.   We will be having our Welcome Back Assembly next week for the staff and students on September 10th and this will be followed by an Open House for families later that evening from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm.  This will give parents and families a chance to see the school and meet your child's teacher.  We will also be welcoming our Knowledge Keepers later this month and teachers will be working and planning with the Outdoor Learning Centre coordinator creating amazing outdoor experiences for our students.  Stay tuned for that!  Below is a list of reminders and activities coming up in September for you to have a look at.  Once again, welcome back, and remember our door is always open!

START YOUR DAY WITH SUCCESS

School Doors open and supervision begins at 8:15am and the doors close/lock at 8:25am when the bell rings and classes begin.

Please come through the front office doors if you arrive after 8:25am or find the doors locked.  You will need to sign your child into school with the Admin Assistant Ms. Grace, so their attendance can be changed and they aren't marked as Missing for the day.

ANNUAL DEMOGRAPHIC UPDATES

Last week an email went out to all Parents/Guardians with the link for the Annual Demographic Updates.  Yes, this needs to be completed every year for each child so we have up-to-date information and permissions on file for this school year.

This update asks parents/guardians for consent for walking field trips including events like the Terry Fox Run, as well as publishing of your child's image/details (FOIP), and any updates/changes to your child's medical details.

If you have not yet completed this form please take the time to do so.

FOOD FOR LEARNING

The Food for Learning Program is a voluntary program available to students of Elizabeth Rummel School, made possible by a grant from the Government of Alberta. The purpose of the program is to provide a nutritious snack and lunch to children of families who need financial assistance with the costs of school lunches and snacks.

It is a no-fee initiative and it is available to any families who are in need of this support. If you would like to include your child in this program please click the link below, to complete the required form:

Food for Learning Consent

The start date of the Food For Learning Program will be announced shortly.  Please continue to send your child with lunch and snacks until the start date is confirmed.

AIR QUALITY CONCERNS

With rising concerns with our local Air Quality, we strive to make informed decisions by referencing the recommendations from the Alberta Government website found here.  The table in this link supports decision making around student activity outdoors.

If Air Quality is above 6, we will modify outdoor activity to reduce student exposure.  This might mean either a reduced time outdoors or a rescheduling of outdoor activities. If the Air Quality is above 10, students will remain indoors.
